Fralin vs. Nordy - Thoughts?

Thinking of a passive PJ set for my 78 Precision. The EMG PJs that have been in there since the late 80s aren't cutting it sonically anymore and I want to get back to a more organic sound while still having flexibility since I play in multiple bands covering several genres. I'm also tired of taking off the pickguard every time the battery needs changed. :hmm:

Primary genres are classic and new country, 80s and classic rock, jazz (standards not fusion), and contemporary praise & worship with an occasional "horn band" / R&B gig here and there.

I have gotten one recommendation for the Nordstrand set but am curious to hear from others.

Thanks in advance.

I've tried both Fralins and Nordies in my 60th anniversary P. The Fralins are more raw, meaning mid emphasis, with a pillowy bottom. The Nordies are smoother and tighter. I stuck with the Nordies plus LaBella 760Ms. I tried this last night with the band for the first time on a rock ballad. The sound was awesome. It was a big, warm, articulate sound that envelopes and supports the music very well. I am very happy with the result. I will be putting the Fralins up for sale too. They are a great pickup, I just prefer the sound of the Nordies.

Also, I have a 2012 Fender P5 with nordies and a big split. That is just an awesome sound. With Circle K strings the sound is very big. It has a piano-like quality when both pickups are engaged. The mids of the P mix well with the scooped BS sound. I really like this combination.
