Double Bass French Bow Grip Technique

I think there is a misunderstanding of implied sarcasm that wasn't implied...

Either way, bow hold is a tough thing to really get down because there are a few variations and a larger variation in the size and structure of hands using them. I'm studying with Chris Brown right now and he has done amazing things with my grip. My general consensus is that when there is tension, something is wrong. Eliminating tension entirely is hard but something to strive for. I don't have experience with the Rabath dvd but have heard good things about it. I also used a rubber ...giggle... for a while but now can play without and don't get the same pain in my thumb that I used to. I'm convinced that extra tension was the only cause of the pain in my thumb, at the tip because of the frog, and now that I am eleviating the tension, no more pain. I guess it's like trumpet players who say that more air and less pressure is the key to everything.
