Double Bass French music notation- bow markings

I just received a double bass part for Souviners by Massonet. I haven't had much experience with French notation. Is a U-shaped character (like a conventional down-bow except upside-down) a symbol for upbow? In context, it looks like it is, but I'd like to verify.
