Always a good idea, because you just never know.BUT, i'm bringing my bass to the next mix session.
There are a lot of tools/tricks the producer/engineer can use to clean up your solo section: EQ, low pass filter, compression. You might be surprised how it sounds with a bit of signal processing.
If you have more than one bass you use for recording, you might consider trying flatwounds on one for future projects. D'Addario Chromes can offer a nice aggressive sound if you dig into 'em but are much less prone to fret clack than rounds. Even if flats aren't really your thing, they can provide a nice alternate flavor in the studio. Just a thought.
