fret inlays

if you were custom building a bass what kind of fret inlays, if any, would you have?

Maple fretboard with black pearl blocks

BUT

within the pearl blocks have maple radiation symbols in the middle, 2 at fret 12 & 24

....

of course that would probably be pretty pricy if i got someone to do it.

I've recently seen some really sweet birdseye maple blocks in RW necks....

I just recently got this with Mother Of Pearl blocks:

the only thing that would have made this better would have been abalone blocks (which have more variety of color).....someday I will get one with abalone...

also - would love maple with ebony blocks!!!

I like blocks overall!!!

I'm puting pirate inlays on a Jazz Bass of mine (I designed the body, the exact same thing as a Jazz Bass, only with crab claws instead of horns). I'm also puting the Eye of Horus at the octave of the fretless I'm building.

Just kiddin', I like a nice clean fretboard. No inlay can make for a very classy looking instrument.

I also like blocks, though, especially white blocks on maple. Funny, though, none of my basses have that combination.

my brother has the eagle inlays on his custom PRS guitar ....im trying to think of something creative for the elrick im ordering....i wanted pearl block inlays but i dont think they are offered ....only the little dots

I just dont understand basses like this...

dont get me wrong, I TRY to understand them.....

but I just dont!


My hat's off to the bassists who actually play something like this.
To me this is the ultimate "boutique" bass but if I owned it, I would certainly never gig with it.
Of course, the fact that I play metal MIGHT have something to do with that!

I like a naked fretboard.

If I ever win the lottery, my Alembic would be naked, or I'd get the serpent/wheel symbol from the wheel of time, in brass.
