Fret-King

The current FretKing range is split into two series. There's the cheaper Blue Labels made in Korea although in my opinion not particularly great value for money. Then there's the serious stuff - the Green Label series hand-made in the UK. I guess the £-$ exchange reate doesn't make them very good value in the US, but they're worth every penny. I own an early UK made Esprit V custom guitar and the quality of the build and finish are flawless, plus of course it plays and sounds wonderful. Hopefully I'm going to be able to try out one of the new Europa Basses very soon (when they've finished building them!).

BTW the two saddle bridge has adjustable angled saddles so you get vintage looks while still being able to get the intonation set right.

Since the Green Label models are individually hand made, I would have thought that it would be no problem having a more 'conventional' bridge fitted at build - maybe something like the Hipshot replacement for the Gibson 3 point bridge to keep the vibe similar?

When I had my custom Esprit V Guitar made, it had lots of non-standard features such as locking trem system, Seymour Duncan mini-humbuckers, black-burst finish over a flame maple cap, ebony fingerboard with no front markings, custom neck profile:

I strongly recommend that you play a few of these Trevor Wilkinson-made instruments - they are pretty d@m good.

Although the bridge/saddles look like the old type, they are completely re-engineered and a lot of thought has gone into the hardware. The pickups aren't bad either.

I played a Vintage Lemon Drop (tribute to Peter Green's Gibson LP) recently and it was by far and away the best-playing guitar I've handled in many years. It sounded like Green's tone too, with the appropriate tweaks having been done to the neck pickup, but unfortunately it could not make me play like him :)

Trying is recommended.
