Fretless conversion help - hard top coat?

I actually cut them a little deeper after seeing that pix the first time too.

As it sits now, I have about .028" gap at the top of the nut and .030" at the second fret marker. I started at .035" or so at the nut.

I could still go lower, but putting bone back INTO the grooves is a lot harder. So I'm going slowly. Remember that this is my first fretless job too so I'm still learning.

Hehehe, yeah, you only tend to do that once. Then you spend the rest of your jobs avoiding it.

If I bought a Gary Willis model Ibanez (Yes, I'm a fan ), would it have an epoxy coating?
