Tobias Growler 5 String Bass Guitar

Serial Number: 9292

Confirmed year of manufacture 1998 by Gibson Customer Service.
Includes original Tobias hardshell case and original manual.

This is the older, more desirable model with the 6 knob, 2 switch configuration. Original preamp and quad-coil pickup by Bartolini. Bartolini stopped making this preamp / pickup because it was too complex.

The top 2 knobs are a volume and pickup coil pan that sweeps between the forward and bridge coils. Two sets of stacked knobs below are bass/treble boost/cut for each pickup coil. The switches are 3 position instant tone shaping for each coil respectively. Down = midrange scoop (slap tone), middle = flat frequency, up = midrange boost (fingerstyle). There are internal trimpots on each switch preamp to adjust the midrange frequency boost. Dual truss-rod neck adjustment, asymmetrical neck profile. I ground down a little wrench so it will fit in the truss rod cavity - included.

The bass is in good condition. There are light scratches all over the body indicative of normal playing wear. I have captured some light scrapes on the back of the neck and a chip on the edge of the fingerboard (bass side, second fret).
