FretWraps and wall hooks/hanging stands: how to?

I recently finally made some use of a FretWrap string muter (a vendored version of an hair elastic band, used to mute open strings), and I totally don't understand how people use it with wall hooks/hanging stands. it just gets in the way, jammed between the hook and the headstock. moving it up to the tuners doesn't change anything for me, so I have to loosen it and to move it past the nut to actually hang my bass. not sure if I'm doing it right.

how do you hang your bass with FretWrap or alike on a wall hook? do you take off it every time? or I'm just overthinking and I should let it be jammed with the hook and nothing bad will happen?

thanks

I'm pretty sure that the fret wrap folks and the hanger folks didn't meet up to collaborate on their designs. :D
You likely have already come across the workable solution, move the fret wrap to hang the bass.
I know it's a little less convenient, but sometimes it just is what it is.

I did a poor mans fret wrap using the elastic self stick bandage material that comes in rolls, This is usually used to hold a cotton swab or pad in place after getting an injection or taking a blood sample. It works but people say it looks cheesy. However it might be more compatible with your hanger.

BTW, I hope things are OK for you (as much as they can be) over there.
Stay safe.

I slide it up the neck toward the body. I've got several basses and wraps on a 4 a 5 and a 6, all hanging. I don;'t choke the
strings: my wrap is tight enough to damp, but it's not a string retainer! Been doing this for years and frankly, don't understand
the problem, but obviously, the damper can't be at the nut and hang with without wadding up.

I either just pull it down the neck or just hang it. The hanger will push it out of the way if it is in the way. Then I just have to readjust it when I go to play again.
