Frostwave Users - Power Supply Question

Alright.....I got a Frostwave Funk-A-Duck from a fellow TB'er who says that the owner supply was not the original one that came with the Duck. Hey...Kelly if you're reading this...it's not because I don't trust you but because I want to learn about power requirements etc. Online it says that it is powered by a 16-18V AC power supply. On the Duck....there's a jack that says 16V. The power supply I got with the Duck is a Motorola 15V 200ma AC power supply. I tried to get more info on the Frostwave site but I could not find any more info. I'll supply more info if you need any...if i can find it . If Jucas or Nad read this can you tell me if Frostwave made their own adapters. Thanks!

I also have read threads on power requirements etc.....but in this case...this is a weird voltage i've never really seen. Thanks!

That sounds like the adaptor I got from frostwave with the resonator.

My adapter that came from Frostwave is 15V ~ 200mA, made by Motorola as well. The Blue Ringer itself says 16v AC. Works dandy!

i'd love to hear some clips after you're done learning the pedal. this is the last "holy grail" filter i haven't tried, and i'm interested to hear how it sounds on bass.

the clips on their site didn't tempt me at all.

I seriously doubt it. Paul probably used a circuit inside the pedal that gives +/-15V DC, and for this to work properly you need about 15 or 16VAC as an input voltage. Using a lower AC input voltage won't damage the pedal, however it just may not work properly, or may have some extra hum from lack of voltage regulation. Using a higher AC input voltage will force the internal voltage regulators to burn off excess voltage as heat, which may or may not be a problem.

Stick to using the right adapter - and makes sure it's AC, not DC.
