I've been experimenting with various power amp rigs. I seem to be gravitating to my Mesa roots.
So, here we have a very cool lightweight Ampeg rig. This couples the rare, highly regarded SVP Classic preamp (4 preamp tubes) with a power class D lightweight Crown XLS1000 amp. Its rated at 1100 watts bridged mono into 4 ohms. Together these pair make a sweet classic Ampeg rig at one quarter the weight. The whole thing weighs 22 pounds, three-space rack included.
Both units function great, very quiet no hiss. I just installed a new set of 4 tubes -- $50 value. Sounds really really good. Very loud into 4 ohms.
These SVP-CLs, when you can find them, sell for $475'ish and the amp for $225. So, let's say $700 shipped. I'm selling as a pair in the rack for now as a complete unit. If you were really interested in a complete solution, the Bergantino HD210 with amp stand could be included for another $600.
