I've been waiting 4 or 5 months to find out from Alembic exactly what's going on with this one. No serial, just the batch number written a couple place, 465 I think. They say it's mid to late 80's and will get back to me with more info when they can since that info is all paperwork for them.

It's in near mint condition with just a couple light scratches. Looks to be an aftermarket fretless job, but looking at the forums they did convince Alembic to make some fretless Spoilers WITH the inlays, very rare though.

If you put flats on this it plays perfectly but you really need rounds on it to get the infinitely diverse tonal palette available. With rounds on the action needs to be higher than I would like, since the E string sounds unpleasant in one spot. This wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for that 2-pole bridge...although I have considered trying to mod it. You can set the action super low and it plays amazing but the E will probably bug you.

Original Alembic case functions perfectly and has all feet and whatnot but is missing a fair amount of tolex patches towards the bottom.

32" scale, I'll weigh it in a few.

Okay maybe I'm being a bit rough on gauging the playability. It's nice playing medium action which a lot of fretless guys like, but if you want the whole super-low "Buzz" thing then I'd suggest modding the E string.
