Hi,
I am about to let my Celinder Custom 5-string bass go...
It is a unique custom model that is extremely rare, and Chris don't make customs any more since he has had such a big succes with his Update models. If you could talk him into making one, it would be $6-7000+ and then you had to pay for the shipping, too. Not to mention that you could probably not have it until 2010 or something like that...
I am selling it because I have just bought an Update 5 in natural (from Ari, thanks man!), which has been on top of my GAS list for a long time.
This one is in good condition, although it does show some signs of wear (see pics). I am not entirey sure how old it is, but most likely, it's from the late 90's or the early 2000's.
However, it had the new, fantastic GREENGROVE preamp installed by Chris himself just last year, and the fretboard had a plane and brand new frets installed this August, so it is playing like butter and has a nice and low action. Therefore, the sound is actually quite similar to the J-Update model, but of course the different woods also contribute to the sound in its own way.
It is a long scale bass (probably 35" or 36"), which gives it a very tight and focused B-string.
The body is Mahogany with tiger flame maple on both sides, the neck is a 6 bolt-on, 5-piece maple and purpleheart, and the fingerboard is made of ebony.
I hate to let his one go, but I must realise that I just have more basses than I can justify at the moment - this one deserves to be played often, loud, with love, and most of all LIVE!
I am asking $3200 plus shipping. (the price is going down as the USD exchange rate is going up).
Here are a few soundclips:
Fingerstyle - Mute - Slap
Please don't judge the sound using the speakers on your laptop - it's a bass, you know!
If you are interested, please send me a PM
