I agree with both camp's...Funk is a feel that you have to immerse yourself in it's intricacies, BUT, the tool is also inportant to get that "sound" across, like Marcus' Jazz-Funk Fender tone, to Louis' "Stomp" MMStingray tone, or Rocco's P-bass fingerstyle funk tone. You can play funk on a box with string's, but the "Sound" call's for the proper tool!
