Im gonna do a slap solo for my talent show, and I need suggestions on a pedal that will spice up my sound and give it a funkier sound

Some kind of Envelope filter or even a manual wah would suffice. I would recommend:

MXR Bass Auto Q
Dunlop 105Q Bass Wah
EH Q-Tron
DOD FX25
Possibly an EH Bassballs

I own all exept the Bassballs, and haven't tried one, yet some people love them, some hate them, so I don't know, but it's worth taking a look.

If your just doing a solo the dod fx25 or fx25b will be great.

Wouldn't bother with anything more expensive unless you plan to use it alot more than for this show.

The DOD is too thin. I also have the Digitech Bass Synth Wah and it isn't too bad.

The best setup I have used is a Boss GEB-7 EQ pedal (with a big smiley face dialed in, and turn the volume down on your bass) and an EMMA Discombobulator Wah pedal. It is KILLER!

I'm going from a cost aspect for the amount he seems he's going to use it he just needs a decent sound, the fact that the dod is very thin sounding isn't really important as for a solo it sounds great, really different.

Personally I always found the Emma to not quite hit the mark and the emma lost quite a lot of bass as well. Now if we are talking about using an ev filter quite alot I'd recommend either the ebs bass iq or the MXR bass auto wah, which I also own.

Yes, with that said, I'll agree on the above DOD FX25B ($40), Bassballs ($55 in outlet), and Digitech Synth Wah (not sure, maybe $80-90).

EBS Bass IQ.

When I first got it, I wasn't sure about it because it didn;t seem to be as "over the top" as the EH Mini-Q Tron, but it is now my favorite pedal. It is subtle enough to fit the music well, but funky enough to give you want you want from an Auto Q.

It gives the best "Chameleon" (Herbie Hancock) effect I've heard yet.
