In 1996, I bought a brand new PBC 356-GTB six-string bass directly from (at) the PBC factory in Coopersburg, PA. I instantly fell in love with it, and played (and continue to play) it as my main bass, through an 8-year stint with my band, Second Story, as well as beyond.

I'd always thought it would be cool to grab another one, just to have, as a second bass/backup, etc. And one hit the Talkbass F/S forum a little over a year ago. I missed the opportunity to grab it - someone else beat me to it - but I posted on the F/S thread that if they ever had second thoughts, I'd take it off their hands.

He got in touch with me in October, and we made a deal (thanks again!)

It didn't occur to me until just today to check this - but check out the serial numbers:

Two basses, acquired almost 25 years apart - sequential serial numbers.

Now, I know they didn't make a TON of these, but still... kismet.

FWIW, the basses formerly known as "PBC" are still made by Dave Bunker Guitars. Worth a look!

Cool. Honestly, I'd never heard of this brand till now (and I've been on TB a long time).

They're so good. A bit heavy, but really well-balanced, super resonant. Lots of cool innovations (tension-free neck, massive toneplate on the bridge, separate through-body bridge assembly for each string). Just a mention barely does those features justice. I'm a fan. ;-)
