G&L Club Part 4

Ok fellow G&L users and fans.
Before I come to grips with the fact I lost my sanity and remove this..
Wanted to give fellow clubbers a headsup.
I found a bass I kinda sorta have to have.
Thus I am sadly letting go of the most beautiful 6 string on earth :D
Posted it on here a few days ago showing birdseye neck and board....
An as new mint G&L ASAT Classic tele style geeeetar....
So just in case any of your G&L bass players tinker with guitar like me.
Or just in case ya have guitarist buddies who love G&L also....

So, given the L-2000 Tribute I've got, I'm debating the wisdom of getting a USA made replacement. My Tribute weighs in at just over 9 lbs (which is fairly light for an L-2000, right?) And all of the USA models I've seen for sale are 10 or more. The pickups are the same and I removed the preamp in favor of using the switches for parallel/inner coil/series with a push/pull pot switch for enabling OMG mode. I've got no problem with the bridge and I could always replace the tuners with Hipshot Ultralights.

The only real issue I've got is that I'd rather have a 1.5" nut. Would this be enough to make it worth going USA for you?

it would be more cost effective to find a neck and just do a swap instead of spending the money on a US model and taking the time to mod it.

This- I think you could also use a Tribute SB2 neck, but those are probably a little harder to find used as people seem to like them more in general. I don't think the US and Tribute necks/bodies would be compatible with each other.

If you're patient, you can still find really good deals on used US G&Ls too and you can occasionally find lighter ones, but 9 pounds is pretty good for an L2000 I think!

Nuts. Yeah, 9ish lbs is good for an L2000! I have to weigh it to see what it really weighs, but it's pretty light compared to other L2000/L2500's I've played. I think I might just try to get used to it.

I was considering eventually ordering a custom Carvin but I honestly can't imagine it sounding better than this bass in OMG mode with the bass at about 50%!
