Merry Xmas TB!

I just got this bass on Wednesday, and I’ve been playing it since then.
It pains me to list this fine bass, but the tone just isn’t working for me. My ears prefer active/hi-fi eq.
I was attracted to this bass by sight and the weight.
It’s beautiful and light, the neck and string spacing is comfy.
Here’s the thread I bought it from, there’s some tech info about some mods that were done

I can't say that I would prefer the standard pre as this the first G&L I've owned and have no experience with the other preamp.
This bass sounds good, it's just that when I compare the tone with my Sire and 4 string with EMG's, I prefer those tones.

The last owner did some capacitor swap mods which may have changed the range of sounds available (I checked the link). I own one of these, and they are versatile, but I found myself missing the second humbucker near the neck, as a long time 2500/ASAT player. Personally, I think if you like the way it plays and looks, you can always upgrade the electronics…it rel

The capacitor mods are what interested me in the bass, I’ve heard many YouTube videos of these basses and thought they sounded a little too bright with the preamp engaged.
I think that like you I’m missing the neck pickup.
