G&L necks

I'm not sure if others have noticed this, but there are some very inexpensive necks available from G&L on their online store. I just bought one for $33 plus shipping. Arrived at my door in 2 days packed very carefully and looks pretty darn good. Just thought I'd mention it for those who are yearning to be creative but are sometimes put off by the 6 hours of work it may take to build a neck this nice.

Cheers

That is really an incredibly good price. The neck on my 83' L-2000 hasn't given me a lick of trouble in 31 years. if the new ones are anywhere near that quality, this is a steal. I actually like the new shape better than my old L-2000, which is like a slightly pudgy version of the classic Fender headstock.

correct this neck isn't an exact fit for fender or fender style products but it will fit, just requires a bridge adjustment toward the neck--maybe 1/2"--and there may be a 1mm margin unused in the neck pocket otherwise an excellent neck at $33 worth it

I bought 5 of them, all LH a few months ago. They can be reshaped to my headstock design so I lucked out. Yeah, square heel, extra fret. Making the neck jigs was no big deal.

I like the way the LH version goes with some of my stuff. That and they were out of RH necks at the time.:D

G&L quality and service are excellent!

And so, it begins. Curiously, my two lefty rosewood necks arrived yesterday. The righty maple I ordered several days earlier has not yet arrived. I'm on a quest to make the lightest practical fives I can. Toward that end, three paulownia bodies are on their way. These five string necks will be grafted onto four string bodies. For any of you "really old" guys, like me... Think back to the Zolla 425 necks...

I ordered

1 - Lefty Guitar Neck Maple
1 - 5-string Bass Neck Maple
1 - 4-string Bass Neck Maple
1 - 4-string Bass Neck Rosewood

all necks are straight but they need some minor fretwork.
They have minor cosmetic issues but for the buck they are a great value.

The problem is that they are finished with clear coat, so if you work on these minor issues, it will damage the finish and you must refinish those parts.
