G&L shaft size

Hi folks

I’ve just bought a 1991 SB-1. I’m going to buy some knobs for it (ideally the silver with black edge knobs from the 80s basses - anyone know where to find them?) but I need to know the shaft size/type.

I’m guessing solid shaft, 6mm?

If anyone has an SB1 to check that would be appreciated. Thanks!

They're 1/4".

I have read that they no longer make the knobs you're referring to.

To answer your question, yes. The 6mm knobs are too small.

I just tried a 6mm knob on a CTS pot.

Ok thanks. In the past I’ve drilled the centre of a knob out with a 1/4” bit so may try that. Or send them back. I presume the shafts are solid not D shaped or splined?

That is correct!

The CTS pot shafts are solid, completely round. Not D shaped.
