I just got this dropped onto my radar by Keeley Effects. Was in a product email I received from them.

I read the interview they had with him and seems like a good guy trying to provide a good product.

He probably makes pretty good strings, but his website doesn't have a lot of info, so I thought I'd see if the TB community had any experience with his product. I'm not above giving $60 for a set of stings, but it's always nice to know what you can about stuff, especially from unbiased, tried it myself and here's what I think kinda sources...

If anyone has these can you tell me how you like them?

EDIT: so,.. i just ordered one set of the Red Copper plus a set of Nickel. i'll brief you in due time. i'm currently VERY happy with Thomastik Infeld JR344's on my jbass and their Power Bass strings on my pbass. i hope they can compete.

OMG! Red copper strings?

I have been hoping somebody would do a proper copperwound bass set since the ones I loved got discontinued back in the '80s. The closest I've found since are LaBella's copper white nylons which only got me back some of that midrange mojo.

Definitely gonna be ordering some of these as soon I know what the guages are.

I don't know where you live but whenever I go into a Sam Ash they always have a few really old sets of the daddario reds that have been in the store for years. I really like those strings but they're too stiff for me.

I'm in CT.

I'm amazed there's some sets of the real D'Addario Reds still around. When you got yours was there much oxidation? The one big problem there seemed to be was how quickly they wanted to crud up no matter how much you tried to keep them clean. And the wraps also seemed to get more brittle as they aged. I'd sometimes see the wrap break like you'll see happen on old guitar strings. Definitely not a string without drawbacks in that incarnation. But wow! That sound!

They seemed pretty old but they were in the plastic pouch so they were fine.

As per the interview .jpg file, the GTSC appears to be a sort of spin-off from the Guadalupe Custom Strings Company, of which you linked to the website. To be clear:

The URLs are identical save for one letter, respectively "c" and "t"; you can also get to the latter website starting from the former and looking for strings for certain instruments, such as electric bass.
