Galli bass strings

I recently took a gamble on a brand I'd never heard of, Galli Strings, because a member is selling sets of them cheap in the classifieds. I figured for only $14, "what do I have to lose?". I ended up ordering 2 sets of the stainless steel. One of the sets went on my Epi Thunderbird IV. I was immediately, and still very much am, in love with these strings. Bright, piano-like tone. Booming bottomend. And what really surprised me was, being stainless steel, they didn't eat my fingers. My new favorite strings. Down side is when the supplier in the classifieds is out, he says he's not getting anymore so that leaves me to have them imported from Europe to the sum of 35euros a set, plus shipping and whatever other fees they throw at me. That is unless one of our great resellers wants to carry them, then in such case they'd get more business from me.

What strings are they close in comparison? Are they bright? Do they last? These are the same strings Linley Marthe plays. One of my favorite bassist so I kind of like his sound and playing. Anyone care to respond?

The Stainless Steel set have their own sound. Smooth across the frequency range with a slight prominence in the upper mids but in a wide band. Very musical. They are a bit rough and crisp sounding when new, but break in quickly. I really like them. Great note definition for complex mixes or chording.

I just bought 2 sets of the jazz flats for 5 string bass (45-130).
First impression is not good. Very bright and metallic A,D & G strings while the E & B are totally dead. I will leave them on for a chance to break in.
On the plus side they're very smooth and didn't cost much for being flats but that's not much comfort if they will keep on sounding unbalanced as now after break in.

I started using Galli strings recently on my bass ukes when they came out with nylon core steel flatwound in 20.5" and 23" scale, which fit perfectly. They also work with magnetic pickups. Kala distributes them, $40 a set of four. Became very tired of the poly strings that are too sticky, especially in humid conditions, and that they stretch for so long, requiring trimming too often.

I recently tried two sets of the exposed core stainless steel strings. Both sets had problems. The G string on both wouldn't intonate properly and on the second set the D string was dead out of the package.

They do sound pretty good though, sort of similar to Dean Markley SR2000s. But they went pretty dead after three weeks so I can't justify the cost of these special orders.
