Gallien-Krueger Backline 115 ... can I do this ?

Just got a nice Gallien-Krueger Backline 115 today, works great. Solid construction, no rattles ... very nice amp :)

my question is, can I get an aftermarket 15" 4 ohm speaker and just pop it in there to get the full 175W rms output or would this not be wise? The rear of the cab has a rather large port hole so it's a ported cab.

Thanks

No. A driver has to match the box it's mounted in. The difference in volume between your amp driving into an 8Ω load and a 4Ω load will be barely noticeable. To get twice the volume you have to increase power by ten times. much better would be to get a second BL 15" cabinet and run it in parallel with the existing cabinet. That's assuming the amp can work into 4Ω.
