Well, I went ahead and ordered a PLEX, should be here the end of the week. Is there a software update for it that I should install if it doesn't have it already? It is a new unit but who knows how long it may have been sitting around.

Either way I'm looking forward to getting hold of it and I appreciate your feedback guys!

Version 3 would be the latest firmware. It will say A something on the box A02, A03 etc.

I'm probably going to spend most of the time on that 800RB setting as well. Love my 400RB.

Yeah it sounds great! I think I would have been fine with the 800RB being the only sim on the pedal.

How big of a venue could I get away with with an MB500 and CX210 cab? I have an MB500 and am going on a small tour of small clubs in April and need a cab. I always love GK stuff and the CX210 seems really well-priced. I can't spend a lot right now.

Depends, how loud is your drummer? In all seriousness, with one of my drummers I wouldn't be able to get through even a rehearsal with just a 210 - purely from a monitoring standpoint. What style of music do you play?

That amp is a beast though, no concerns there.

The good news is that it might be enough for you. The bad news is, if you ever find yourself in a situation where it isn't enough, where you keep incrementally turning the volume up, your amp has the potential to do nasty things to your cab.

Oh, really? I really don't understand how this stuff works very well, but GK told me that the MB500 will output about 350W at 8 ohms, and that cab is rated at 400W.

Maybe I need a 410 or 212.

Cab wattage ratings are almost meaningless. With the wrong EQ, a 300W amp can destroy a 600W cabinet.

Also IME overexcursion is a larger point of concern, and the MB500 is capable of putting out a lot of low end.

My comment says more about the power of the amp than the robustness of the cab.

My MB500 used to make even my Neo 112 pair fart out depending on EQ/volume.

Anyways, it's mostly cautionary. I don't think it's a bad pairing, just be mindful of your cab if volumes start to get louder if you go that route

If you are going to go the 410 route, you could get 2 CX210 cabs. That would give you the 410's you want plus stacking them will give you a little more height and they should be pretty easy to transport. Just saying.

I second this. I've gigged the MB500 using 1 CX210. It worked in one band but we had a relatively lower stage volume and substantial PA. Using this with my current gig, I could definitely use a 2nd CX210 (just may do that). I mean I could get by, but having 2 CX210s would provide more headroom and peace of mind.

So the used gk 1001rb I got recently stays in protection mode when I first turn it on. If I tap lightly on the top it comes on. This only happens when I turn it on after hours or days of not being used. If I shut it off and turn it back on it starts right up. Has anyone here experienced this before? It sounds fine and works well otherwise. I opened it up, and to my untrained eye, I see nothing wrong.

Contact their Technical Support during regular business hours to confirm that the relay is the problem, and what should be done.

I asked RAG once how much output my 350 watt amp would put out if I maxed all the EQ knobs, and turned on all the bells and whistles. He said I would be putting out about 1,200 watts.

Got my Plex in Friday. I've barely scratched the surface of this but for me it's perfect. Haven't put it through an amplifier yet but have used it for silent practice with headphones. One thing, it's built like a tank. Very solid piece of gear.
