The XLR output on my GB 9.0 is distorting and popping. Through the cab is super clean and quiet. Up until the last few gigs the DI out was clean as well. Any ideas? Thanks!

Assuming you are talking about the Shuttle 9.0?
The most common cause by far is that the XLR cable is intermittent and with phantom power present will cause this exact symptom.
If there is an actual issue with the circuit though, you can message me since the amp is still covered under the factory service program.

Not the same amp but I had distortion due to the following issues
1 - Bad XLR cable
2- The DI level is set to line but the mixer or amplifier/powered speaker is expecting mic level . Most mixers should be able to do line or have a pad but if not , I think, the GB amps have a switch to select the XLR level from mic to line.
I though the GB amps' DIare phantom power resistant and I have tested that protection feature and it worked on mine - but yeah, follow that suggestion too.

Phantom power isn't an issue, but an intermittent mic cable with phantom present will cause loud popping noises as the mixer amplifiers the already large signal. The amp's DI is fully protected.
Thank you for your input! I did a test just now. I did the same tests twice with 2 different mic cables plugging into a QSC CP8 directly and then into a TouchMix8 feeding the CP8. I discovered that when the amplifier was set to "mic" and "pre" the output was not governed by the master input gain on the front of the amp, and the sound was horrible. Loud popping, intermittent volume changes and very low volume overall. When I switched to "line" and "post" the DI output was super clean, full sounding and tied to the master input gain. It sounded wonderful through both the CP8 direct and through the TouchMix.
Not sure why this is like this but I'm glad to figure it out.

Pre-post DI output has nothing to do with the symptoms, it’s a level matching issue.
The powered speaker’s mic input has much too high sensitivity because it’s intended for a low level microphone rather than a higher level mic and certainly not line level.
With the amp’s DI level set to mic, it might work ok, but the DI’s mic level is hotter than a low level mic (because the intended application is into audio consoles and interfaces that can easily handle the higher levels)
