Today there was this awesome Musicman Stingray HH for get this $989.99 brand new
apparently a tiny chip on the headstock warrants a $400 price drop!!!
Should I jump on it before the sale ends?

So is it $989.99 before the $400 discount or after? Seems like a good price but with a chip in it you should see if they would go down a bit more. :) The cost they paid for that is probably around 750 or so. Either way probably a sick bass.

No, they probably paid about $500 or so. I would tell you to try and get it for $850, or as close to it as possible. A good argument point is its resell value to you, odds are you won't be keeping it forever and the chip will devalue it (As they already know).

I picked it up and man those that thing kill. IT does the Stingray thing and more.
Here are the pics before you say no pics no bass.

Oh and i tried negotiating but it didnt work even though I knew the sales rep.

The odd thing about that is that the Musicman was only there for about a month and they were blowing it out, and they raised the normal price to $1600 so i saved over $600.

Some of the older stuff wasnt blown out oddly, they had several Musicmans that were quite old (ones without compensated nuts) without discounts.
