For sale Geddy Lee Jazz Bass neck

How old is this one? Made In Japan or Made In Mexico?

This is a made in Mexico version, I have the Japanese model as well and they are identical. I measured them and found no real difference. According to the Fender Website dating numbers this one was made in 2012-2013.

Thats good to know. I’m always in a great mental debate with the look of my 1993 (I think) Made In Mexico Jazz Bass neck. Every time I see a Geddy neck, I’m drawn to them. Since I have a light relic MJT body (right) Im I looking for something thats older and more yellowed out.

Well, the neck is a bit more yellow than the pic denotes. Flash being what it is as well as whatever color shading phones apply. That neck is exactly what I’m looking for...

Mine has a 7.25 radius. Which feels a LOT different than the 9.5 radius on my 1978 J. Great feel though. Very good sounding too, considering its covered in Poly. The back has been sanded down, so it feels more satiny.

I have a bass with a satin finish and it feels good to the touch. But to be honest I’ve played basses with finished and unfinished necks. My main stay for 15 years was a Gibson Tbird which the back of the neck had nothing on it and it felt great. And then I got a Spector with a gloss neck and it made no difference to me in terms of playing. Maybe it’s how I anchor my left hand it never completely rests on the back of the neck. I just really use my thumb. I feel it allows me freedom to move around the neck freely. But most people find it awkward. But my mom said I was never normal so I guess it fits.

But I’ll say this the Geddy necks have a GREAT feel to them. I almost don’t want to part with it, but being that I’m trying my hand at a build and need a neck with the white block inlays I can let it go.

Not sure about yours, but my 1998 japan geddy neck is super fast!

Yeah, it’s a great neck id say most likely the best neck I’ve played on.
