Seriously... Geddy all the way. He wrote the bass lines for "YYZ" and "Red Barchetta", sings AND plays keyboards..... at the same time. Say no more.

And Jaco could improvise a solo to Teen Town at 250bpm. Guess it depends on what the contest is being judged on, eh?

I have a feeling they'd both think each other was an equal.

Their styles are at opposite ends of the spectrum. I've seen some of Jaco's playing, but I'm more familiar with Geddy. Could Jaco have replaced Geddy in Rush? Hell no! Could
Geddy have replaced Jaco? I doubt it. I'm a Geddy fan.

Ha I'm a rush fan (go figure) even own a geddy lee jazz bass .... but I personally think jaco was better technically and musically when he was in control...... and as far as people think geddy is a nice guy with no ego....wrongggggg him and his bass tech were idiots the last time I saw them ...his bass tech used to come in here ..not any more ...

Seriously??? Geddy is a fine musician, but he is not even close to Jaco.

this is the understatement of the year

geddy can play just fine. but a lot of people can play like geddy, he just happened to be in a great band that was hugely succesfull. nobody can really cop what jaco did.. we all try.. none succeed though. he could burn walking lines like ray brown, then take solos like joe pass.

So, IMO, Geddy would be my choice.
