Geever Butler 13

He's a Lakland endorser but in all the pictures and video clips I've seen he's playing Fender P basses. One of them looked like it might have had flats on them; maybe for Zeitgeist?

In studios its hard to know what effects or amps are being used. Some times its all in the computer.

A P bass with some round wounds and a dirt pedal like a Pork Loin would probably get you there. Being Geezer Butler probably doesn't hurt either.

I might be reading this wrong, but Geezer just typed in some numbers and used that for the bass track?

Not quite how it usually goes down.

Typical scenario:

Star tracks instrument (bass in this case). Producer tells Star that these are killer takes, and Star can take the rest of the week, or month off. Star retreats back to his mansion and waits for record-release party info.

Producer gives to Expert Programmer, Star's killer tracks. Expert Programmer recreates real killer tracks by typing in some numbers (and lots of other tricks*).

This usually happens concurrent with Star Drummer's tracks.

Finished product delivered back to Producer and Engineer.

Everyone is happy.

* tricks include use of: Invalid Link Removed, Scarbee, Invalid Link Removed, Drumagog, Invalid Link Removed, Looping, and similar techniques.

That seems strangely like cheating

This cheating has been going on as long as the ability to record.

Was the use of drum samples on Nevermind, cheating?

Really?

You mean they had computers and programmers when they recorded Buddy Holly and Robert Johnson?

When Pink Floyd recorded Piper at The Gates Of Dawn, they had a programmer come in and redo Roger's bass parts?
Entwistle's parts on Tommy were redone by a programmer using a computer?

Damn, you just ruined my day...
