It will be played at a tribute show Friday, so she’s ready. Still needs cleaning, setup, logo, and pickup painted silver

Sorry for the lack of updates. I’ve been in a real time crunch on this build, so I’ve not been as pic happy.
So, I basically epoxied allmy body seams, sanded all down to 320 grit, grain filled, sprayed sand sealer, and shot the amber tint on the neck.

Tonight, I taped up the neck, and hit the body and headstock with primer.

I’m hoping to be done with paint, by Sunday. It would give me a break, while it cures.

God, I can’t wait to be done with this.

Faux binding sprayed, final sand and masking done for clear coat.

We are heading into the 4th quarter. My friend takes possession of this on the 28th (due date).

Friday and Saturday is clear coat

Sunday is final wet sand, to prepare for buff.

Monday is buff, and tuner install.

Tuesday is final assembly and setup

Wednesday & Thursday is addressing any last issues (if any).

Friday is delivery and fall over...

Tonight I hit a bump in the road.
On Sunday’s final sand, I accidentally sanded into the color coat at spots.

I saw it and was like, “Ah, it will buff out”.

Buffing it only amplified my error, so I had to sand the body back down, and add clear coat.

This sucks, as it sets me back a day, and I’m hoping I can buff it with such little cure time.
This will be the last time I ever build with a deadline.

In other news, because I used a liberal amount of clear on the headstock and neck, they buffed nicely, and are ready for final assembly.

This is going to be a photo finish and a few more late nights.

I hope it works, but I have the bolt-on on standby.

Well, it worked. The added clear coat last night, fixed my problem, but I had to trade off with a bit of orange peel (black gloss is the bane of my existence).

I also had an accidental surprise with the pickup. I painted it silver, as these pickups only come in black, and Gene’s was a dull silver.

The silver was very bright and cheap looking. I lightly ran the buffer over it in error, and it gave the pickup a dull look, which was exactly what I wanted!
