GENZ BENZ Expertise needed

They did tell the truth. It is 1200 watts, it's just in two different outputs. It's not false advertising at all. You misunderstood what you were purchasing. No big deal, just send it back if it isn't what you need, but claiming someone is lying is really bad form here.

Just a guess, but I'd bet there's more to that story...

Last time I checked, 600 plus 600 equals 1200 - is that really so hard for you to understand??? If you had two 4 ohm cabs to be driven, it most certainly would produce 1200 watts...

You didn't see them say ANYTHING about bridging capability, did you??? Here's a clue: any amp that can be bridged will have a spec for it's bridged wattage at a minimum impedence...

Just because a person isn't smart enough to read simple print doesn't mean a lie was told... - in this case, there was no lie, just a consumer that wasn't smart enough to look into something before buying it...

I agree. Also, the amp is not advertised as being "1200" watts. It's advertised as 600x2, and it states clearly the different cabinet combinations that are required to get the various output levels. Calling Genz Benz out for lying is just going too far.

Genz Benz advertised that this amp will supply 1200 watts when it clearly cannot. It is my responsibility to look into what I purchase but doesn't Genz Benz have a responsibility to tell the truth about what there product can and can't do? I'm just sayin!

The ad copy is a little misleading, but the fact that you never see the term 'Bridged Mono' should have been a red flag.
But really, it doesn't matter. You couldn't feed any single cab all that power anyway.

DESCRIPTION

The SHUTTLEMAX™ series is available in a 900 watt or 1200 watt version and are the most full featured designs in this class of compact bass amplifiers. The award winning SHUTTLEMAX dual preamp design offers an FET preamp for articulate, precise, immediate tone and a 12AX7 tube channel which provides a wide range of gain structure that produces smooth, clean tube warmth or can be dialed all the way up to the critical mass of aggressive overdrive.

This STL-MAX12.2 delivers over 1200 watts of output from an amp that weights only 6.75 lbs. Dual Class D amp modules produce full output into two 4 ohm loads (one per amplifier output). Our proprietary 3DPM power management circuitry provides increased headroom and a thicker dimension to the individual notes. The full output of the ShuttleMAX 12.2 is perfect for any venue and playing style.

The SHUTTLEMAX 12.2 dual power amp design offers a variety of available power output choices:

One 8 ohm load (either Amp A or Amp B driven)...............375 Watts
One 4 ohm load (either Amp A or Amp B driven)...............600 Watts
Two 8 ohm loads (Amp A and Amp B driven)....................750 Watts
One 4 ohm load (Amp A) and one 8 ohm load (Amp B)......975 Watts
Two 4 ohm loads (Amp A and Amp B driven)....................1200 Watts

I will admit it may be a little confusing, but not deceitful or an outright lie. It was an interesting configuration when it came out as most 2 channel power amps (like Crown for example) were able to be run stereo or bridged mono.

The dual mono amp thing does lend itself to some interesting cab combinations though. From a single 8 ohm cab to get 375 watts to running 4 8 ohm cabs (2 per side) you can have a heck of a lot of flexibility.

Sad to see this company disappear into the FMIC goliath.

Which is exactly why when given a choice between a Max 6.0 and a Max 12.0 I chose the 6.0.. since my cabs were already 8 ohm cabs. I did the research and bought what I needed. My only regret is that at the time I couldn't get a 9.2 Max.

Not really.... it isn't even a little confusing.. it seems pretty straightforward to me..

You're right--I read the copy for the GBE 1200 which isn't quite so clear.

It's perfectly clear, the GBE-1200 is a single channel power amp rated at 1200 watts into 2 ohms. It is not, and does not say it's a dual power amp, or anything to do with bridging.

You know what, I could have sworn I found something somewhere that made the specs look a little fuzzy. But I can't find it now. Guess it was me that was a little fuzzy!

The bad news... it gets even fuzzier as you get older. Ugh!

If the OP is still looking consider the ShuttleMax 9.2. The eq is fantastic but it sounds great with everything flat. It weighs 6.75 lbs, it's loud enough and with 2 different channels it's very versatile. I got mine last week for $575!!! There is not a better value out there!!!

I frequently use multiple cabs, so the ShuttleMAX 12.2 was my choice. The amp's 600 watts seems more-than-adequate when I use a single 212 or 410 cabinet. (BTW, I play 5 string basses exclusively, and I'm NOT a quiet player.)

I traded MAX 9.2 for the 12.2. I don't regret this a bit ....

I remember hearing something to the effect that if you add another speaker to an amp and not increase the power, the simple adding of the additional speker cab produces more spatial volume. Now consider this theory with adding another cab with another 600 watts. That would be doubling the spatial volume times two which I belive is what we are talking about here.
