I'm pondering the thought of buying something small/lightweight and gigable. These really seem like the ticket. Looking to use in restaurants/lounges setting anywhere from 25 to 75 people. PA support if needed is no problem. The group consists of acoustic guitar, bass guitar and vocals and sometimes drums,but he uses brushes. I have a Aguilar 500 with a DB112 that I use now for these types of gigs, just looking for something smaller. My basses that I use are a 70's Jazz Bass, 4003 Rickenbacker and Rob Allen Mouse 30. Would the 3.0 8T buy itself cut it? My local Genz Benz dealer only has the 3.0 10T in stock to try out. It seems what I've read in past posts is that some guys have used the 3.0 8T and then moved up the 3.0 10T. Any thoughts on this?:hmm:

I'd get the 3.0 by itself and then a separate cab, unless you need something super lightweight. Those little cabs are decent but I MUCH preferred the Neox 112T over the Shuttle 12 cab, for example. Much more beef.

My 3.0-10t keeps up with a moderately loud drummer in small clubs. There's no substitute for a big cab but this combo is pretty sharp. From what I've read the 8t is great too but the 10t is super easy to move. Unless you do the public transportation thing regularly to small gigs the 10t might be better.

all amplification is a balance of compromises. With that being said, the only reason you should go with the 1x8 over the 1x10 is if size and weight are the MOST important factors in the consideration.

Get the 10. I keep up with quartets, and regularly have to turn down - both volume and bass eq. Great amp.

The only other amp I think I'd use is an Aguilar - but only if I had a lot more money and someone to carry it for me.

The 3.08T fits in my trunk, where-as the 3.10T wouldn't - but I tried using the 8" speaker by itself at a gig... everything was fine when I was warming up - bass filled the air. It was loud. :D Then the band started, and I couldn't hear myself, with my ear against the cab (not literally, but the cab was close to my chest). Quickly plugged in the 2x12 extension cab after the first few notes (had the cable ready and waiting). Crisis avoided.

I like the 3.08T for practicing - and I've used it in band practice situations in the garage, but we practice kinda loud. I had it up around 5' off the ground, and I could hear it - but it wasn't loud, and the clip light would go on.

It's like digging a hole with a spoon attachment from a swiss army knife. Sure, you could do it - but it wouldn't be the most appropriate application/method.

That said - I'd strongly suggest the 3.10T between the two - as long as it fits in your trunk. ;)

Wow ... I have to ask what car you have? The trunk of my Honda Civic fits a Neox212t, or 2 x Neox112t with room to spare!

Anyway, I'm one who originally got the 8, then returned it and got the 10. There's just a little bit more down low. The 8 works great with some boundary reinforcement, like if you can put it in a corner. But the 10 just has enough more to it to make it very much worth the extra 5 pounds or so. It's still under 20 pounds. I've walked 5 or 6 blocks to and from gigs carrying it in one hand, the 10" extension in the other and my bass slung over my shoulder in a gig bag. And the stack with extension held its own with both 4 and 5 string with a medium loud blues band in medium sized rooms.

Although, I did end up moving back to the NeoPak and one or two Neox112t's. But I couldn't do that 6 block commute the same way then ...

So, both 8 and 10 are nice. 10 is more complete to me. Others have used the 8 pretty successfully though (buffordbass comes to mind).

Thanks for the suggestions. Like I stated my local Genz Benz dealer only has the 3.0-10T in stock, which is 60 miles away, so I haven't tried it out yet. My Aguilar rig works great, just looking for something to use thats smaller and lighter in weight. Hopefully within the next couple of weeks I can try out the 3.0-10T. I might not even like it. I have used a Tube Works bass amp in the past. I think they are made at the same factory. It did the job ok. Has anybody paired up the 3.0-8T and the 8T extension cabinet yet?

FWIW, there is zero lineage between Tube Works and Genz Benz bass.

First gen Mazda Miata. :D Yes- there's a complete bass rig that fits in that car! Bass rides shotgun in a gig bag in the front seat, amp fits in the trunk! :D (Luckily I have a WRX Wagon for when I need to take my "real" rig anywhere!)

Back on track - I like my 8" cab - but it's really not very loud. Pairing it up with another 8 might help - but I've paired up the single 8 with a single 12 and have not been overly impressed with the volume. Your mileage may vary.

no worries. The companies were related but not the product. ....if that makes sense.

It is kind of like Ovation and Takamine guitars: they are both owned and/or distributed by KMC Music but, there are no shared design elements, parts, team members, manufacturing space...etc.
