I want to know more...

Specifically when is it due to hit stores?

Using the FET channel with one 4 ohm cab what is the total wattage output?

No more questions from me for now... :hiding:

.... but seriously, I really do want to know about this amp. It looks great!

Other thread is closed for some reason, so I will take this opportunity to say..."Godammit, just when I thought my amp GAS had subsided, GB goes and puts out a 1200 watt two channel micro amp!!!!"

I have to say though, my Shuttle 6.0 is amazingly powerfull and punchy with either my 4 ohm 410 cab or my pair of 8 ohm 210's. With the new 1200, though, I could power all three cabs!!!!!!! ARRRRRGGGGGG!

Should be 600 watts per 4 ohm cab.

To me its a problem. Basically its 2 600 watts amps together at 4 ohms each side. If you use one 4 ohm cabinet you can get 600 watts. I guess for those wanting to use more than one cabinet say 2 8 ohms on one side and a 4 ohm on the other you can crank it. I am looking for the light 750 watts going into 4 ohms. Lots of headroom and good power. Something like the new Genz coming out isn't for everyone but I miss the 8 to 4 to 2 ohms combination.

There's plenty of other flavors out there. If this doesn't work for you then I guess your search continues.

Yeah, I agree. I'd rather have 1200 watts into one 4 ohm cab.

Some may disagree, but I didn't find the 600w of the shuttle to be *that* loud compared to other amps I've owned (LMII, Eden 405, Carvin BX1200 etc). That is one of the main reasons I sold it... that and I like a clean amp.

Now if I had an FET 1200w amp... whoboy!... Lookout I'm buying!

The other thread was locked, because it apparently broached the CUP rules.

It's AMAZING whats being done with small-amp technology.

Genz-Benz just keeps moving forward. Almost too fast, I sometimes think. 2 months after I bought the Neo-Pak, they were superceded by the Shuttles. No problem, the tube-enhanced Neo is enough for me w/out "updating" to the higher-powered 6.0 Shuttle equivalent.

And now, in addition to the Shuttles, comes this beast- A pocket-sized GB1200. Very cool.

Wonder what's next? (NAMM 2010-2011-2012, etc...)
:hyper:

So, I guess you can't use both channels without any tubeness?
I think a non-tube 6.0 would be a better marketing move, but what do I know?

I could be wrong, but I think you could use both power sections without selecting the tube pre. The preamp you select should have nothing to do with which power section(s) you are using.

IOW, I don't think either preamp is tied down to either power amp. Now, if you are talking about blending the two pre channels, the tube will definitely have an influence on that.

...................Looks like the (my) beloved GBE 1200! All the great features in a lightweight package!:hyper: Instead of a 2 Ohm switch, you have two separate internal power heads capable of 4 Ohms each. This should mean you still have the ability to run four 8 ohm cabinets!:bassist: I would assume you can also run both internal amps together (bridged) for a straight 1200 watt load?

More than 30 lbs less weight, and one less rack space too!

Coming from big business, this is great marketing! All manufacturers should "sneak-peak" stuff before NAMM, to generate excitement and early sales interest. Then by the time people try it out at NAMM, it may actually be on the market!:smug: How many times are things released at NAMM, but not made available to the consumer for almost another year..............Kills the hype!:scowl:

Yes and no. You can't bridge it. At least it is to what I understand. Its like 2 shuttles together. But different eq's.

Yeah, I think you're wrong...

It will work just like the GBE-1200, only with 2 600@ power sections instead of 1200W at 2 ohms. You could run both 600W channels using only the FET preamp, only the tube preamp, or a mixture of both - the preamp channel selection(s) will apply to both power sections simultaneously. Double Agent is correct.

So Yeah, I think I'm wrong...
Who knows at this point? :p :D
