Double Bass Genz Benz shuttle series v AI Coda...

If anyone has played double bass through both these combos I'd love to hear what you think. I'm using AI coda at the mo' and I feel I need to have a front firing speaker for outdoors particulary. Otherwise, I like the sound of the AI. It's pretty natural. I know there is the ten2 and I could get an ex ten2 for the coda, but this GB has caught my attention and I'm very curious...

Biddy,
I've played into a Focus Series II and the Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 10t combo. They are both very nice amps. The thing I noticed about the Focus was the absolute crystal clear uncolored nature of the pre amp and lots of power, seems to me the better your bass and pickup are, the better it will sound with the AI voicing. The thing I liked about the Genz Benz was it's apparent warmth in the midrange frequencies because of the FET's in the pre amp. It's more reminiscent of my Walter Woods MI-100-8 in that frequency range. However, it only has a single input channel, and without benefit of phantom power, low pass filters, notch filters, and those multi input connectors that make the AI so flexible. I don't think I'd ditch the Coda if I already owned one.

Good points Ric... I miss the front fire tho', especially outdoors.

I hear you, that's why I didn't get an AI combo. Some of the folks who bought the Ten2 really like it. I also hear that they can refit the Series III heads to use their new Cabrio docking system. That way you can have your head and face it forward too. Maybe that's the way to go.
