I was a long time user of Genz Benz Shuttle and Shuttlemax amps. The 9.2 versions were my favorites. I tried the Streamliner and didn't bond with it. Then I briefly used Aguilar amps before moving to Mesa Subway. I still use the Subway equipment and own D-350, D-800+, WD-800 and a pair of 115's.
A Kinetix was listed for a low price and I bought it. It is a terrific amp and very easy to use. I run every control centered except for a small treble cut.
The Shuttlemax 9.2 I had could get close to the tone of the Kinetix……close but not quite. The Kinetix seems to have more power and is a very sweet sounding amp. Muscular and musical is how I describe it. The Mesa WD-800 can sound similar but it takes some thoughtful adjustment of the generous EQ to get there. The less complicated EQ system of the Kinetix is simple to understand and still gives great results.
A close friend recently bought the new Mesa 800D head and we got together so we could A/B the 800D and the Kinetix. We agreed that both are killer amps and the Mesa seems to be voiced to be able to deliver a bit of edge or grind to the tone which sounds great for rock. The Kinetix sounds more polite to me and is perfectly suited for the jazz and older pop music I play.
I prefer the Kinetix when compared to the Shuttlemax. YMMV.
