Does anybody out there have any experience with using the Genzler NC-115t as a single cab solution for rock gigs?
I've been looking into the NC-212t and the NC-115t (also considering options from Mesa and GK) as potential lightweight, small form factor single cab solutions (no-PA support) to pair with my Kinetix 800 for medium-loudish rock gigs in venues ranging from small bars to semi-outdoor ice houses and hotel ballrooms.
I was previously pairing my Kinetix with a BA410-3, which sounded absolutely fantastic but was always more than I ever needed. Plus, with the prospect of a lighter schlep and smaller footprint for cramped stages, the NC series 212 and 115 seem to fit the bill. I know the MG-212t also gets a lot of love, but the higher price along with the similar weight to the 410 have me looking at the NC series.
I should also note that even with the smooth highs of the BA410-3, I still typically ran a LPF set between no higher than 5k with varying levels of drive for anything between low-middy Motown thump to a (mostly) grindy hi-mid picked P-bass tone. So while it feels really weird to be moving away from such a cool concept like the BA series, it just seems like maybe a more traditional cab with the tweeter turned off might suit my particular needs better (and save a little cash, to boot).
Based on posts on TB, I feel pretty confident the NC-212t would fit the bill in terms of projection and volume, but previous descriptions from Mr. Genzler have me wondering if the more vocal mids of the NC-115t would suit me better than the smoother mids of the 212. However, I wonder if the 115 would have the oomph needed to carry the larger venues I play.
Haven't been able to find either of these cabs in my area to audition, but even if I could I've got a 9 month old at home that's been making it hard to get out of the house period
