Double Bass German Bass? Should I Jump On This?

Oy. The neck isn't "delaminating" because the neck isn't plywood, so that's either a crack or the fingerboard is becoming separated from the neck. Crack is a BIG problem, fingerboard may or may not be, it a lot depends on whether or not this is a cheap piece of crap and the fingerboard has been attached with wood glue so you can't easily pop it off to reattach.
The label is meaningless, see if there are any other labels. It could be alright, it could be a piece of crap, I can't really tell from the ad. The machines don't look like new Chinese to me....

it is a Framus. I just bought a late 60's Framus two weeks ago (haven't had a chance to post photos yet). from the description of the label, it sounded like mine. i contacted Emily and asked if there was a FRAMUS stamp. she just replied with a photo showing that it is. I bought mine for $1,200.00, it came with a pickup made by John Knudsen called a "messenger" installed in an adjustable bridge. John also set it up and put on a new end pin and tail gut. It also came with a nice thickly padded K&K case (i can't find anything on them on the net) The seller said it has Thomastik Orchestrals on it. It has a very nice rosewood fingerboard. No cracks, breaks, separations, etc. anywhere. i am the 3rd owner. It sat for 25 years in a closet after the first owner graduated high school. I will have to post photos soon. The seller said he preferred this to a Kay M1 he had had for both sound and playability (for what that's worth) and he was selling it to but an expensive custom made bridge with a pup out of NYC.

Anyways, there is not much information on these Framus Uprights outside of the Invalid Link Removed

Using that, I believe mine is the 4/38 Rhythm Model

I've searched on talkbass here and pretty much ziltch info.
back to the CL Upright... she sent a photo of the label inside the Upright and it shows the Framus Logo and the text which looks like mine. I see from her photo that there is also some writing but it is a few letters and cannot discern what it says.

These seem to be pretty rare. i started a Framus Upright Yahoo Group to try to find other owners to share info. whoever get's this should try to get as much information as possible. i hope this has helped a bit... Emily seems pretty anxious to get someone out to look at it and purchase it. looking forward to hearing what happens...
