Out of curiosity, I was wondering if there are any good instrument fabricators for building a signature bass.is there any good websites on the interweb??

Getting a custom signature bass made

Please clarify.
A custom bass is built to your specifications for you. For example, the Zon in my display picture was specced out by me and then built for me by the folks at Zon Guitars. There's only one, and I paid for it.
A signature bass is different. Instrument manufacturers work with famous artists to produce replicas/copies of their instruments. For example, the Fender Geddy Lee Signature Jazz Bass is made by Fender in cooperation with Geddy Lee, built to be similar to his personal bass. These basses are available for all to buy, and I don't think many artists pay for their signature models if they even play one.
So, to answer your question.
If you want a custom bass, MANY builders will build one for you. You just need money.
If you want a signature bass - one with someone else's name on it, like a Geddy Lee Jazz - then just walk into a shop and buy one.
If you want a signature bass of an artist who doesn't have one (no company produces a signature bass with his/her name on it and his/her specs), then google the specs for his bass and build it yourself or get it made. You could probably call it a signature bass. You'd probably need to be a pretty hardcore fan to do this.
If you want a "custom" signature bass - as in, one with your name on it (correct me if I have understood you wrongly) - then you'll need to become famous, then exclusively play basses from one company, and hope they contact you.
