Getting another amp

Usually, you want to set the gain to be high enough not to go into clipping, then adjust your overall signal level with the Volume control. Same method for both your combos.
On the Rumble, the 3 pushbuttons to the right of the Gain knob are for preset EQs, "Bright", "Contour" and "Vintage". The manual indicates that there is some interaction between Gain settings and the Vintage and Overdrive features. Here's the manual:
https://www.fmicassets.com/Damroot/Original/10001/OM_Rumble_40_100_200_500_US_5.pdf

The combos use very different EQ circuits, so setting one the same as the other doesn't really add up. You need to get a setting you like on one, then set the second EQ to match, using your ears and not your eyes. What I see is that you favor an EQ that's really heavy on the treble, light on the bass, and scooping out all the mids. While each of us has our own idea of our ideal tone, your setting seems a bit extreme. Why the aversion to mids?

I think you've done some good research and have come to some useful conclusions. If you like the clean sound of the Rumble more and it's not enough power, there is either the Rumble 210 combo or a Rumble head and cabinets.

I got the manual with the rumble (what's the odds ha ha) and it was pretty straight forward. I didn't turn the gain/ overdrive function on but I did have the Vintage button pressed (I think) also have the GK manual haven't read that in awhile. I find it interesting or maybe annoying the GK has no sound if the gain knob is fully counter clock wise. These aren't my preferred settings I don't have any yet, it's just me trying to get the best sound and most volume out of each Amp. I turned the bass up until it clipped and then dialed back. It's true I did the same to both. At this point I don't have an aversion to mids (pics say otherwise) it's just where I ended up. I think the gain on the GK was turned up because that along with boost and Master volume just kept giving me more volume. I honestly don't think the GK is capable of a clean sound. I do like to keep things as simple as possible, but when it comes to these low frequencies and amps it seems nothing is clear cut. Thanks for the suggestions I'll Def try them out !!!

View attachment 4498955 If the almost 80 pound Fender is a BXR300C, I can tell you that it’s worth checking out. I think Fender lied a bit about the weight( more than 80 pounds), but it is the best sounding amp I’ve ever used. It has side handles so you can lift it. If you can carry an 80 pound bag of cement comfortably, you’ll probably like the combo. It will easily keep up with a loud drummer. Set it on top of another 15 and it will keep up with a cranked full stack

Yeah it's still for sale. Maybe I could get it for less after 2 weeks on the market. About an hour away. He said it has wheels (dumb question right) it is heavy...
Edit: these were going for $200 back in 2012, way over priced ?

Edit: correct me if I'm wrong this is way over priced. I could still offer 150/100 ? It's not a ton of money but it is a TON of Amp, idk. Biker dude one word responses, an offer won't cost me anything..

I've been reading reviews on the rumble 500. 350 watts X 2 10" (500 with extension) speakers. My local guitar center opens at 10 am and it's in stock. $650. There's a good chance I'll do this...

Be careful when comparing amp power. Is the rating for watts RMS (average) or watts peak? Most power amps are watts RMS, while most bass amps are watts peak.

This crown is 300 watts per channel rms (average) typically the number in the name is the peak watts. Which leads me to believe it is 800 watts peak and more powerful than the fender rumble.

This Fender Rumble doesn’t list average watts, so it is likely the peak of 500w

I went to guitar Center last night. They had the 500 combo in stock. Took about $72 off for it being a floor Model. I took it home and played all night. I left all my adjustments flat almost entirely, both on the amp and my bass EQ. Mostly adjusted volumes and was surprisingly satisfied.

I'm entirely new thrilled with it so far. It sounds as good/better than the original one that caught my ear (my son's buddy leaves his in the music room) It's a rumble 40 and it shakes the house. I've borrowed it a few times. I bought a used 100 last week for $150. (guess I'm on a rampage)

I was seriously considering the 800 watt head with cab(s) but when I saw the weight and size of the 500 I knew I could use and lug it the same as my GK. And a cab would be nice at some point whether I need it or not. There's soo much out there.

They also make an 800 combo but it has more recent modeling updates. I didn't want to chance it being something different than what I was after.

RJB I agree they don't divulge too much detail that's for sure. I thought it was 350 Combo 150 cab, But the jack on the back lists 8 OHM 250 WATT CAB so I can guess the combo is only 250 without the cab ?

IDK man I research all the time, get frustrated with all the details and marketing confusion, then decide what I like and get it. I mean seriously when is the last time anyone has read a less than stellar review on any amp ? I researched a lot of amps in the lasting week or two. Anything that caught my eye on craigslist. I don't feel any better informed now than before all this.

I deff went with the sound I love, it's soo straightforward and sounds just like I think it should. Plus I can upgrade with a cab. It's truly not to be louder, maybe an ego thing but I doubt it. I've found for a long time now that when it comes to audio equipment more power is better even at low volumes it just sounds better.

If anyone knows or has an idea why the jack in the back is labeled 250 watts 8 Ohm minimum I'd be interested in what you think. In my opinion the amp since it's a 500 is operating at 250 watts with no cab. Unless they were able to use a load with less impedance for the combo that's my guess.

Thank You to Everyone who gave their time and efforts and shared this experience with me. You are all Much Appreciated !!!!

PS: I brought My GK with me just in case. They list $400 used $700 new. He brought out an eBay sold list and offered me 60% of that which was about $160. (at least I didn't waste my energy dragging it into the store) I'll probably list it up used for 300 and take what I can get for it.

Yes the amp operates at 500 watts into a 4 ohm load. So the built in cab operated at 250 watts into 8 ohms and you can add a 2nd cab at 250 watts into 8 ohms.

Do you have experience with the Crown? Is it suitable for bass or is it more for DJs?I've been looking at it thinking about using it in conjunction with one of my preamp pedals like the Le Bass or Bassrigs.I have 2-2x8" TC Electronics 200w cabs, and more if needed . The amp has more power than I really need.
