I use an Alesis Multimix 12 (firewire) mixer routed to an older Peavey CS800 power amp. Each channel of the amp powers two 12” mains.
I run guitar and vocals through the power amp. I run the bass through the same mixer, but output the signal through the “alt output” to its own head/cabinet.
I get a lot of hiss out of the main output of the mixer, to the power amp. The amp hisses some, but not nearly as much as the mixer. So I guess I’ve isolated the problem to the mixer.
I’m sure that the obvious answer is to replace the mixer, but I haven’t found another one like it. I want to stick with this model for its multi-track recording capability.
Is there anything I can put in between the mixer and the amp, like some sort of noise suppressor, to get rid of the hiss?
