Double Bass Gewa Ideale Jazz Bass

Presuming it has a conventional DB construction, just less deep & shorter, that's not too bad at all for a fully carved, albeit smaller & painted w/ nitro.
I have never seen or heard one of these instruments, but from the pictures I have the following concerns/comments:
- they have shortened the lower part of the belly, this puts the soundpost closer to the rim (in the distance along the grain) and will thereby stiffen the back. This may not be bad (see the Eminence), but before buying I would really like to hear how it sounds, also acoustically.
- The heel of the neck is very short, making the forces on the button bigger.
- Having a smaller soundbox may be advantageous in an amplified setting.
- In the picture shown, the bridge is too far with the tip to the fingerboard; like that it will warp quickly and may break. For stability, the bridge should be bisecting the breakover angle (the angle the strings make over the bridge).
I think you should play it & then decide.

I was going to say you might get more response on the DB forum, but browsing a bit more here on the EUB forum I came across a link to your basses ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed]), showing that you already had this bass on 20/10, or at least one looking very much like it. So how does it sound, and what are your experiences with it?
And also: what were you hoping to achieve with this thread? Is this a test or so? Or are you advertising? I feel misled. "can get one for a nice price" Suggests that you don't have it, but now it turns out you already have it.

I have a nice 3/4 bass at home and am looking for something smaller for occasions with little room or when I have to travel by train & boat (ferry). I have tried a 1/2 size bass, nice sound and volume but the shorter strings are a problem. An Eminence is to expensive, and from what I have read in the Eminence mega-thread a lot of owners are experimenting with strings and pick-ups. For the price they are sold for I would expect a better instrument than it seems to be. I have never tried one, so I can be wrong here. When I found the Gewa Jazzbass for sale I took it home to try for a fe weeks before buying. It sounds great amplified, looks nice, I love te workmanship an size.
On its own it sounds loud enough for studying or performing with ac.guitar etc. in a small room,
but the sound is a little thin, nasal, like it's coming out of a box (it is, I know).
I would like to hear the experience with this bass from other players/owners.
The fact that almost nobody knows these basses can have a reason....

OK, fair enough.
From a smaller box you shouldn't expect the glasses in the cupboard to rattle, as they do with a normal acoustic - but that may be an advantage when playing amplified.
A reason that nobody knows them could be that it is a new product. It does not necessarily say anything about the instrument. If you had, in 1980, asked people about experiences with the internet you would have gotten the same response.

I am interested to have a solid 1/2 double bass for gigs (80% pizz), but if I could get one with good sound - not only for pizz, but classical arco playing too.. Have you any ideas?
(about 1/2 - I am a women and not very big...and very tired for bringing the big one)
