Just found this old instructional video of Brazilian bass powerhouse Arthur Maia playing a Giannini. They are probably hard to find outside of Brazil, but it looks to be a great instrument.

i have this old "Formigão"(Big Ant), or AE04B, as you prefer.
this was the most famous giannnini bass from late 70's to the beginning of 80's.
very simple, but the good Dimazio pups (stock), and the unusual look make it my favorite "precision like" bass.
i like the sound and the feeling, although the neck is thick (as a precision should, to be honest)
i bought it very cheap, mine is a 1978 slightly reliced (not to say abused
) , and I use it as my practice bass.
the neck is glued. i kinda like this original design better than the copies they like to do. I wish they still produced this model.

Just left my local music shop and noodled with a gb-1 for about 30 mins. Really is a great bass for the price and it does feel much better in my hands than a squire jazz(which is what I went to check out). I am going back in a week or two and I am walking out with it. Great bass.
this is another historic Giannini, the AE14B from late 70's early 80's:
we use to call them Giannini Alembic ;P
those are hard to find today in good condition/price

This thread of sorts has been dead for a while now but my first bass was a gb-1 and i've kept it around since! Its slowly evolved into my bass for playing funk or anything with groove, the heavier weight than most fender j's and its other attributes for some reason really work well with me. Im using flats on it and its been going great with little to no issue, but i will say that the neck is prone to bow alot more than other j basses, other than that, i like it!
Its 2024 and this thread is still useful. Hard to find first hand experiences regarding these basses but I know if someone in the U. S
owned one of these basses there would be some discussion here. Thanks.
