Gibson Ripper Buzzing!

I have a gibson ripper and it has a pretty prominent buzz when im not touching the strings or the pups. ive already read many posts about this and shielding seems to be the overall solution. ...but i dont have a clue what shielding is. can someone explain shielding to me?

the pickups are humbuckers, so it's probably not a sheilding issue. sounds more like a grounding problem. check to see if any wiring has become disconnected or maybe it's a faulty jack. if you don't feel comfortable checking it yourself, it wouldn't be terribly expensive to have a tech go over it for you. good luck!
