Gibson SG Standard Bass deal?

More like a normal deal, after the pricing I have seen lately. The 2014 is anniversary model with inlay. Also a small difference is baked maple fretboard vs real rosewood.
Ok, thanks, the 2014 is £1099 in Gak, and the 2013 model is £999, so for £650 this looks good to me... Also I'm not keen on the 120 Anniversary fret marker, to be honest (although I do love the new Walnut colour on the 2014 model...)

Finish seems to account for huge differences in price in these basses. I dislike the twelfth-fret marker on the 2014 basses. The best playability/sound/value combination is to go for a faded cherry SG bass. Even new, they're affordable. Yes, they'll pick up dings as the finish is soft but that to me adds to the vibe.
Anyway you can steam them out with a soldering iron put to a wet Q-tip!
I have one that weighs just over 6lbs and it sounds great. I use it all mostly for jazz gigs but it rocks, too. Sounds are surprisingly varied-the bridge mini-'bucker is quite powerful. All in all, a great bass. The short scale never really took off, but I believe it's quite valid today. This bass, with its dig-in feel, light weight, comfort and great sound is hard to beat. Components are of high quality, too. A winner!
