As an aside here, players with a limited income should check out the MTD Kingston's and Heir's. While inexpensive, these babies kick butt and I go through them like candy. "Bass Player" magazine gave them stellar reviews and the consistency is very good.

Just curious, did Mike ever build Growlers or Killer B's? I thought he only built the neck through style. cleanse me of my ignorance, thanx.

So... why would Mike sell the tobias name, and the sweet Omega style headstock design?

He seems to be doing great with MTD, couldn't he have just realized that if he kept Tobias he'd probably be doing better than he is with MTD?

Was there too much demand for Tobias, and he was overwhelmed? Or did Gibson just offer him a pretty penny?

As far as I know Growlers were exclusively a Gibson product, but when I was reading up about the Killer B I read somewhere they began development under Gibson but before M.T. had completely parted ways with them. I'm a little fuzzy on the details. Those old Killer Bs were pretty good though, I had a mid 90's Gibson one.
