GK 1001 combo help needed

Hi. I just bought a used GK 1001rbii/210 combo. I've never owned GK equipment before. I plugged it in and nada.

Power cord is good, tested it on another amp.
I see a light on the left front panel labeled "power/protect". Should this be lit or does it only light when clipping?
Is there a mute switch that I am not aware of? I see a tuner mute switch - have tried it in both positions and nothing. This feature is missing the push knob, but using a pen I can get it into both on & off positions
Is there a circuit breaker located somewhere? I've looked in back and zip.
I assume this combo can be used as a stand alone or am I incorrect. Does it have to be plugged into another cab in order to run?

These may sound like dumb questions but I like to start with the simplest things first. I downloaded the manual from the GK site - I don't see a troubleshooting section.

The power protect light will be bright blue when running, and red when in protect. It will NEVER be off if the amp is working . . . . The tuner mute switch will cut all output from the head except the signal coming out of the "tuner" jack, and "out" is on (unmuted). There is a clip led next to the input jack/pad switch, which will only be on when the preamp is clipping (should not light much if at all in normal use.) If you get no sound, make sure that you have both the input level (on the left - next to the input jack) and the woofer/tweeter level controls (on the right, near the power led) turned up. If either if these is turned off, you will get no sound. If you still get nothing, try plugging/unplugging a cable in the effects send/return jacks. These are cutting jacks, and if dirty, can cause a no output condition as well. No external breaker, but an internal fuse, IIRC. And yes, you can run it standalone, but be sure that the internal speakers are plugged into the outputs in the back (speakon or 1/4") - some folks use these as heads with only external cabs, and may have unplugged all the internal speakers.

One speakon is running down into the amp, the other speakon has nothing attached - should this be run somewhere?
Tried plugging "external cab out" to a 4o cab and nothing.
Nothing lites up. No "on" indicator or mute engage light lit up.
Put my ear on it - nothing.

Previous owner said it worked fine and he was recording with the amp two weeks ago.

Will try your send/return idea tonight when I get home from work.

One speakon is running down into the amp, the other speakon has nothing attached - should this be run somewhere?
Tried plugging "external cab out" to a 4o cab and nothing.

The second speakon is used for an extension cab, so no, no need to wire it. If you don't get the power light (the blue one) and can't hear any minor background hiss, then it is not powering up. Sometimes fuses can fail for mechanical reasons, or perhaps the IEC cord you are using has a loose connector (I have seem some that just won't work in some gear . . . ) so try another cord as well, before you open it to check fuses.

Thanx again Tim. yeah, I've tried three different power cords and zilch. I tried the GK IEC on my little Marshall and it powered up just fine. Where do I open up to check fuses? Maybe a loose wire? I'm not a techie so maybe it's time for the shop - but I'll try anything simple.
I got this amp off of ebay so I have some options to check out. Never bought anything big off of ebay before, so I'm into uncharted waters. Maybe suffered a road bump during shipping, but GK has a rep of being well built and extremely road worthy.
Tried your suggestion on plugging/unplugging into the fx send/return jacks and nothing. I mean it's not powering up (no hum, hiss or buzz even with an open guitar cord).

I have not had occasion to go into mine (yet? - I work on everything I own, just no need on the GK yet), but IIRC, the top cover is a "U" shaped piece that most likely has a couple screws on either end, and maybe one in the back. It should lift off easily, and if there is a fuse you can change, you should see it. If bad, have a try at a replacement, but make sure you use the same type and rating - (don't want to hurt it worse or start a fire!). Barring that, and if you don't see anything loose, then I suggest you take it to a service station.
