GK 1001 v MBFUSION/MB500/MB800

Understand JimC. It IS hard to find a "micro" that'll do it all.
IIRC, you liked the Walkabout but it hadn't enough clean headroom for you.... That right??
I'm pretty much in that same boat. I love my Walkabout, but unless I take a big cab (412, 215, 810) it can struggle in the staying clean & still sweet dept. With 2x12"s it won't cut most gigs for me
The TH500 suits me well, but I hear you re the "wooly-ness".
I'm looking to try a GK MBFusion500 at some stage. There's only MB500's around locally tho darn it!
I didn't click with the Streamliner at all. Couldn't tame the monstrous pillowy bottom end, & if I did cut that much bass, it sounded flunky :thumbdown: It obviously works for some.
The Orange TB500 was very cool & loud-great having the switchable impedance & full power available at both 8 & 4 ohms.:thumbup: but fairly limited in its EQ possibilities.
I've never tried an Ampeg pre > ss power-amp rig (that I can remember) but, that's another set up I'd like to give a run.
I need that Keaton fellow to knock me up a couple clones

Hey Rod,
The WA sounded great but it took a big cab to get enough volume and even then, I felt the headroom was limited. I sold it and then bought the TH500. The only other micro I've owned was a LMII and it defineately didn't work for me. The Streamliner does seem to have alot of different opinions following it from "it sounds like an SVT" to the "bottom end is uncontrolable". I worry that it will be a winner for some cabs and horrible with others.
From all the threads I've read, the GK amps don't seem to be too picky about cabinets.
There does seem to be a difference of opinion as to how warm a MB500 is and how much warmer the Fusion is.

I own a 700RB-II and a MB Fusion 800. I agree with what has been said so far. The 700rb has punch but the Fusion 800 has tone for days with 97% of the punch of the 700RB. All in all I prefer the Fusion 800.
