GK 700RB plus rack case

Do you think a GK 700RB would be in danger of getting too hot if it were inside a 2 space shockmounted rack case?

It's a dilemma because it's currently in a 4 space standard case that I really want to use for some keyboard rack gear, but the 2 space shockmount is just not getting any use. It's a tad shallow, but would be perfect for the GK, if there is no real danger of overheating.

I'm very interested about the answer to this also. I'm planning on buying one of these amps pretty soon and I'm curious as to have i should rack it.

I had a 700RB (first gen) in a 2 space SKB X-Rack. It was happy in there, because the case had some space above the amp.

Also, this amp draws in air from its front and then vents out the top, so it has cool air coming in. Before I did this, I checked with GK and they said it would be fine.

The fan didn't run too much and the amp did well for quite awhile.

how much clearance is there above the amp in the 2U rack?

Sorry, but mine has been sold several months ago, so I can't look.

However, there is a raised area above the amp so there's some room for the air to move around. The amp is also fairly close to the back of the case, which also helps airflow.

The fan on mine didn't run much, so I'm assuming the amp didn't suffer. Here's a pic:

Actually, the cooling system draws air from the top and exhausts it out the front.

I mount my 1001RB-II in a 2-space SKB X-Rack, and there's plenty of room over the fan entrance, whichs allows air to be drawn in from the back opening. Not so for a lot of the regular close fitting, slab-walled fiberboard or plywood flight cases, and as far as the shock mounted types, it would depend on whether they use foam rubber all around, or some kind of frame suspension to hang the amp. The manual says it needs 1/2" of clearance over the fan, so choose wisely.
