GK 700rb2 cab?

I run my 700RBII with any of the following:

2 GK NEO 112's (series 1), my gig rig. Easy to move and sound great!
Avatar B210 NEO (4 ohm), rehearsal or small gig rig.
Ampeg 410HLF (4 ohm), not mine. It's at our studio. Really like this cab! Use it for recording.
Avatar B210 NEO (8 ohm), not currently in use.

My favorite is the Ampeg. But not my favorite to move so I don't use it for gigs.

I have my GK700RB installed in a VOX trapezoid head cab driving 2 speaker cabs, each with two 12s:

The bottom cab has a horn, also.

The GK Neo 212 is what I pair with my 700RBII. It's light, has casters, packs a great sound, is almost as rugged as the Mesa PH212 but 25 less pounds and 250 dollars less price. If I had a better back I >might< have gone with the Mesa. It is an awesome cab.

This pairing just blasts a medium venue room full of people. If I was playing a little bigger rooms, I'd add a 115.

I think a lot of this depends on what kind of stuff you're going to be doing with it. The 700rbII is a wickedly good head, and as long as you keep the load at 4 or 8 ohms, you'll be able to drive whatever you hook up to it reasonably well. Personally, I think whatever you get, you'll want to make sure it's a GK HMS equipped cabinet so that you can take advantage of the separate tweeter amp on the 700.

That said, I think the GK Neo's are awesome. I got a chance to play through the 410 not long ago, and it moves a bunch of air. Make sure you get an 8 ohm version so that you can add a cabinet later. I own the GK Neo 212 and a 112. I love the versatility these cabinets give me..... and I absolutely love the tone! And on top of that, they are light! I use the 112 for rehearsals and smaller room stuff. I'll even use it in medium sized venues if the stage isn't that big, and I have good PA support. The 212 goes to medium venues. I've used it at larger stuff, but again, only if the stage wasn't huge, and the PA support really good. Both cabs go on larger stages and outdoor stuff. And it is killer..... I gush when I play through it.

You need to determine how much cone area you need to be pushing, and then make your decision from there. No matter what you decide, keep in mind the GK's are a great value, and sound great with GK heads.

i used to have a GK700rbII, a GK neo 115 and a GK neo 212.

I made the mistake of selling them to get all the new Light stuff (markbass, epifani,etc...) It's my biggest mistake...

with the neo 115, sounds ok a low volume but at gig volume, WOW

with the neo 212, sounds great at low volume, Sounds good at high volume..

Both cabs sounds terrific together no matter what volume you are playing....

I'll throw something else out there......

Before you get wooed by the price of the Avatars, request a quote from RMC Audio on the GK's. By the time you factor in shipping, the GK 112 is about the same price as the Avatar 112. I bet it's about the same thing with the 212, or any other similar cabinet configuration...... and with the GK, you won't be paying any more for tolex, plus you'll have the HMS feature.

Outstanding deal. In fact, I had been rolling around the idea of getting the new mb115 combo, but now, I think I'm going to pick up another 112, and the 400rbIV..... that gives me a backup head and cab that is still light enough to take to rehearsal..... And I love the RB series heads! The only bummer for me is that I live in TN, where RMC is located, so I'll have to pay sales tax. :crying:
