GK 800rb> Ampeg 410 Live sound?

Hi All,

I'd like some help getting a decent live sound for a PUB size venue.

I'm been off the stage for 10 years - My old covers band are doing a few reunion shows.

My Issues
The CAB is distorting. Inorder to cut through in the rehearsal studio i have to push the mid range up - Sounds crap when I bring the rig home and play solo.

Any suggestions?

Hey Badbear - Its a SVT-410HE I switch the horn off.

This is not unusual - there's a BIG difference between killer "bedroom tone" and tone that works well in a band context... Typically, a band mix will require more mids and highs than you'll want to hear when playing solo... Also, the HE cabs don't have great lows, IMO - the HLF series put out way better lows, in particular the SVT410-HLF is a low end monster...

That rig should be loud enough for most gigs... everyone else needs to turn down a little and you need to get your cab up off the ground so it points more at your head.

If you still hear distortion, turn bass knob down, plus on that RB cut the contour knob because that scoops your mids. your rhearsal space is probably small so Im guessing the drums and guitar sound loud and drown you out, that may not happen in a bigger room. brothernewt is right, tell everyone to turn down. What did you use when the band used to play out years ago?
